Have you watched Curling on the Olympics and always wanted an opportunity to learn for yourself? Now is your chance!
The Westchester Community College Alumni Association is renting out the Ardsley Curling Club for a private event. Participants will have an opportunity to learn about the sport of curling and for those who are interested, you will step out onto the ice and give it a try. Instructors will teach you safety and the basics of the game, including sliding a rock and sweeping. Instruction will be followed by a short game played against other alumni participants.
The club will provide all necessary equipment. Participants should wear warm, comfortable clothing (something that allows for easy movement such as sweatpants) and clean athletic shoes. Please bring clean shoes with you, do not wear them into the building (any salt or excessive dirt on the shoes can ruin the ice). It's best to dress in layers so you can remove layers as you warm up on the ice. Must be 12 years of age or older to participate.
Please note, curling is classified as a lifelong sport, with adaptation for those who may not be able to perform the slide out with the rock, delivery sticks allow stones to be delivered from a standing position.
We will provide refreshments for the event.
There is a $25 nonrefundable fee to participate and space is limited.

*The path to the curling club is directly across the parking lot from the road leading in. Park in the lower part of the lot and look for the sign indicating the path. (The building is down a steep hill so you will not see it.) Please note, the path winds back and forth down the hillside, may be challenging for anyone with a disability or respiratory concerns.
